Trailer Refurbishment: Indespension Digger Trailer Gets a New Lease of Life
At Sleaford Trailers, we recently completed a full refurbishment of an Indespension digger trailer brought in by a customer from Lincolnshire. The trailer had been heavily used and was in need of urgent safety repairs and servicing.
Tyre Replacement and Brake Repairs
All four tyres were dangerously worn, the oldest dated back to 2004. We replaced all tyres with high-quality new ones suited for towing heavy equipment.
The rear brakes were faulty and have now been fully replaced. We also fitted new brake cables to ensure the trailer meets current road safety standards.
Wiring Correction and Refit
The trailer had previously been re-wired but the job had not been done correctly. Faulty wiring can lead to trailer lighting issues. We replaced the wiring completely to make the trailer fully road legal.
Rotten Floor Replaced
The wooden floor was rotten and unsafe. In fact, the team were able to remove it using a crowbar and by hand. We measured and installed a new, durable floor to improve both safety and usability.

Summary of Work Completed:
- 4x new tyres installed
- Rear brakes replaced
- All brake cables changed
- Complete wiring replacement
- Full floor removal and refit

Frequently Asked Questions about Trailer Refurbishment
What is trailer refurbishment?
Trailer refurbishment is the process of restoring and upgrading a used or worn trailer to ensure it is safe, road legal, and fit for continued use. This often includes tyre replacement, brake servicing, new flooring, and electrical repairs.
How do I know if my trailer needs refurbishment?
If your trailer has rotten flooring, worn tyres, faulty brakes or damaged wiring, it may need refurbishment. We offer trailer inspections to identify exactly what needs attention.
Can you refurbish all trailer types?
Yes. We provide trailer refurbishment for a wide range of trailers including digger trailers, car transporters, goods trailers and plant trailers. We work on most brands, including Indespension, Bateson, Ifor Williams, Tickner and others.
Is trailer refurbishment more cost-effective than buying new?
In many cases, yes. If the frame is in good condition, a full refurbishment can extend the trailer’s life at less than the cost of buying a new one.
How long does a trailer refurbishment take?
This depends on the trailer’s condition and what work is required. Basic repairs may be completed quickly, while full trailer refurbishment jobs typically take a few days.
Do you provide a quote before starting any trailer refurbishment?
Yes. All refurbishment work is quoted in advance. We assess the trailer and provide a full breakdown of the recommended repairs and costs.
